Debating Supporters Group
The Debating Supporters Group (DSG) was re-established in 2001 to support the debating program at Sydney Boys High School. The DSG raises money to support the running of a high-quality debating program, provides suppers at home debates and organises the annual Debating Dinner.
The DSG meets on the first Tuesday of every month in the Staff Common Room at SBHS at 18:30. All parents of debaters are invited to attend. For more information and dates of DSG meetings, please see the Events Calendar.
The office bearers for the DSG in 2008 are:
- President: Mr Craig Phillis
The duties of the President are to assist with organising the debating dinner, liasing with the Debating Co-ordinator, chairing meetings of the DSG and communicating with the SBHS community through the High Notes. - Secretary: Mr David Rudder
The duties of the Secretary include maintaining the DSG e-mail group, communicating to parents through the e-mail group and writing and distributing minutes of the DSG meetings. - Treasurer: Mrs Angela Pal
The duties of the Treasurer include maintaining records of accounts, monitoring budgets and spending for debating projects and "special needs". Additionally, the the Treasurer is responsible for invoicing the schools participating in the Eastside Competition and organising the electronic payment of the adjudicators. - Parking Coordinator: Mrs Harleen Kaur
The duties of the Parking Co-ordinator involve recruiting parents to help with parking days, liasing with the school's parking coordinator and being present on parking days to supervise operation. - Supper Coordinator: Mrs Alice Paul
The Supper Coordinator liaises with parents to arrange the suppers at home debates. SBHS is well known for our yummy suppers! - Debating Dinner Coordinator:
The Dinner Coordinator works with a team of parents to organise the venue, catering, decorations and set-up of the annual debating dinner.The office bearers for the DSG in 2006 were:
