Saturday Racing

Saturday Racing for Seniors is highly recommended unless you have spoken to me. We meet at Double Bay Sailing Club at 7.30 a.m. Racing begins with a briefing at 9.00 o'clock at the Woollahra sailing Club. This means that boys have to be rigged up and sail to Rose Bay in time for the briefing.

These sailing regattas have a progressive point score over the course of the season (Term 4 and Term 1). A number of other schools are also involved in the races. The events are run by a committee from the Woollahra Sailing Club. Our students are members of Double Bay Sailing Club.

Sydney Boys employs Adam South to assist and provide coaching, support and guidance to our sailors. He is involved in the racing and is available on Saturdays for our boys. The boys' details and emergency phone contacts are available to the sailing master and coach. They provide safety support and back up to our sailors in case of accident or misadventure.

The sailing master, teacher or representative from Sydney Boys High is at Double Bay from 7.30 a.m. to mark the roll, ensure students have equipment and generally assist boys onto the water. Once the boys are been assisted onto the water the teacher or school representative will leave and the students are the responsibility of the coach, the parents/caregivers and the club.

Most races conclude by 1pm but this weather dependent. Boys sail Pacers or Lasers depending on ability and availability of equipment.

Gym Training

Monday Before School

It is important that boys build strength and endurance. We encourage them to do this by using the gym at school. A tailored program for sailors has been developed and Monday morning before school has been made available for sailors.
