2nd November 2013

High won the toss and elected to bat, after a splendid first session with Vivek and Vishal batting the first half of the innings out, High was 0/80 after the first session. Unfortunately, Vishal was bowled for 32. However, Vivek stayed solid. Shashank then came in to score a quick fire 22 Followed by Karthik who scored a strong 19 not out. In the last over after having an amazing innings, Vivek was caught on 93. Some great batting performances left High at a solid total of 199.High’s bowling was tight and the fielding was good as well. However, Joey’s were able to pick the gaps and get a respectable total of 1/69 after the first session. High’s bowling and fielding was great in the second session with some outstanding performances by Peter getting a two wicket maiden and most of the bowlers taking wickets. With some exceptional fielding by High, the game slowly slipped away from Joeys and by the end of the innings Joeys scored a total of 8/166.

 

26th October 2013

High won the toss and chose to bat. After getting off to a shaky start after losing an early wicket, Shashank and Vishal put on a great partnership of 93. Half way through the innings, High was on 1/57 and then steadily increased the run-rate through to the end of the game. Some outstanding performances in the batting include Shashank’s 55 and Liam’s exciting 21 runs off ten balls toward the end of the innings, giving High a respectable total off 161. Although High’s bowling was tight, the fielding was loose at times and Newington took this opportunity to pile on the runs without losing a wicket in the first session leaving them in a strong position at 0/71. High fought back with Kabir getting a desperately needed run out. Some big hitting by Newington put them in a commanding position with 10 overs to go. With 7 overs to go, Newington needed only 36 off 42 balls. With a tight second spell, Tully took 2 wickets for 8 runs in 3 overs which left them needing 27 With 3 overs to go. Vivek and Peter bowled out the inning brilliantly with High winning the game by 4 runs.

A steadfast batting performance from High saw them post a very respectable 6/102 off their 32 overs, with Vivek and Shashank providing a great platform for the middle order to accelerate towards the end of the innings. The bowling effort got off to the best possible start, with two fantastic direct hit run outs. A regular stream of wickets during the middle overs, aided by a dominant fast bowling spell from James, saw High bowl Grammar out for 69 in just under 25 overs. With the GPS season and Barberis Cup on the horizon, the team is looking towards a very successful season.
