17 November 2012

16 C’s – Trinity 2/69 (18) (T. Nassif 1/11 [4]) defeated by HIGH 3/75 (10.3) (K. Chong 32*, B. Lee 30*)

After a difficult previous two games High came into the match confident of turning the season around. After discovering Trinity were short on players High showed excellent sportsmanship, allowing Trinity to bat first and offering them extra fielders, as well as fielding only nine ourselves. The Match started well with Trinity scoring at a very low run rate and an early wicket falling to opening bowler Thomas. High continued to field well and manage to only concede one boundary and restrict the opposition to 69 runs from 18 overs. After openers Peter and Thomas fell earlier than expected Bryan and Kevin both made respectable scores, retiring at 30 and 32. Overall, High played a very strong game on an old, worn synthetic pitch and batted exceptionally well considering the long grass.

27 October 2012

16 C’s – HIGH 85 (16) (P. Ryan 20, T. Nassif 17, A. Thakur 17) defeated by Shore 4/88 (17) (T. Nassif 2/21 [5], A. Thakur 2/15 [4])

The toss was lost and we were sent in to bat. Missing two key batsmen resulted in a re-shuffle in the order and openers Mike and Ian took the field. A blistering nine runs were scored off the first over, providing hope that we may be able to make a defendable total. Unfortunately, this was short lived with a batting collapse leading to many players making meagerly scores. Thankfully, Anant and Peter were able to step up before High were bowled out 10/85. After two early wickets were taken by Tom in the sixth and eighth overs hope of a possible win lingered in the air. Anant also took wickets in the eleventh and fifteenth overs before Shore finally surpassed our score 4/88 (17).
